A new Chair of the Training and Skills Commission, the State’s peak advisory body on skills and workforce development has been appointed. The new chair is Mr Adrian Smith, Managing Director of SYDAC, a leading developer of simulation technology and engineering software and Business SA member. As a Commission member since 2003, with more than 17 years experience as an engineer and 12 years leading SYDAC, he brings a wealth of industry experience to the position.
Also newly appointed are Ms Angela Coker, ASC Pty Ltd, Ms Miriam Silva (appointed as Deputy Chair), Elders, Dr John Buchanan, Workplace Research Centre, The University of Sydney and Ms Lindsay Simmons, a former teacher, MP, industry consultant and Policy Manager for the SA Council on the Ageing.
Mr Peter Vaughan, CEO of Business SA has been re-appointed for a further two years together with previous Commission members, Dr Michael Keating AC, Ms Janet Giles, and Mr Paul Dowd.
Thanks goes to outgoing Commission Chair Emeritus Professor Denise Bradley for her vision and leadership over the past two years and also to outgoing Commission members, Mr Patrick Wright, Professor Roy Green and Professor Roger Harris for their effort and commitment.
