In the haste to develop Modern Awards in such a tight timeframe, Business SA has discovered that several Modern Awards do not contain provisions for trainees – full time, part time or school based trainees or school based apprentices where there was previously provision in either pre-reform awards or NAPSAs. This means that employers with trainees covered under such Modern Awards would need to pay their trainees under higher wage level classifications.
