In a bid to improve the quality of training and assessing in Australia, the National Quality Council (NQC) has reviewed and updated its policy on the competencies to be held by trainers and assessors under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
Business SA welcomes this news as we have lobbied on behalf of our members for some time now, to improve the quality of the VET system. The NQC has agreed to replace references to the Certificate IV in TAA (TAA04) and assessor competencies with reference to the revised Certificate IV in TAE and assessor competencies. It has also requires all trainers and assessors to have these qualifications/competencies or be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies. References to Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ98) / competencies have been deleted. This process will be phased in. For more details read the full NQC announcement.
