Responsible Officer training is mandatory under the OHS&W Act 1986.
Business SA offers one-on-one Responsible Officer mentoring. A senior OHS consultant from Business SA will come to your premises and provide an individual session regarding the requirements of the Act. This session is popular with those who have time restrictions or have specific issues to discuss which require a private environment.
Overview:
As of 15 August 2005 changes to the Act were implemented, and it is now compulsory for all Responsible Officers to undertake training to understand their role.
The Responsible Officer is a Director, Business Owner, Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director or General Manager. It is the most senior person from the body corporate who resides in the state. For OHS&W purposes a body corporate is ‘a registered company or association’.

This program introduces the responsible officers to the OHS&W legislation and explores organisational structures, which allows the implementation and monitoring of effective OHS management systems.
