The EPA has developed a brochure for businesses which provides details of the NPI thresholds and guidance on how to submit NPI reports to the EPA.

Businesses must report to the NPI if their facility exceeds any of the NPI thresholds for use of listed chemical substances, burning of fuel or waste, electrical consumption and total nitrogen and phosphorus to water.

Federal Budget unveiled

xMar09_etc_bc

Business SA is pleased that the 2010-2011 Federal Budget is fiscally responsible and aims to achieve surplus three years earlier than previously forecast.

Business SA Chief Executive Officer, Peter Vaughan, said it was important for the Budget to aim for a return to surplus at the earliest possible time.

“We welcome a number of the positive initiatives that will provide a boost to the business community,” Mr Vaughan said.

“While there is some relief for small business with the two per cent reduction in the corporate tax rate and improved depreciation treatment, this may not be sufficient to offset the one-third increase in the Superannuation Guarantee Levy.

“The imposition of the Super Resources Profit Tax has the potential to adversely impact on the mining and related industries in South Australia and Australia."
