South Australia’s most successful and innovative exporters were honoured recently at the Business SA 2011 Export Awards, held at the National Wine Centre.
In front of over 250 guests, 10 companies were recognised for excellence in exporting in categories that included regional, emerging and the large advanced manufacturer award.
Winners of the State awards automatically qualify as finalists for the 2011 Australian Export Awards hosted by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brisbane in December.
The National Wine Centre of Australia Award for ‘high achievement and excellence in exporting’ was presented to Renmark-based almond exporter, Almondco.
Almondco, which also received the Regional Exporter Award, has previously won the agribusiness export award in 2009 and 2010.
Companies to win export awards for the second consecutive year included Prism Defence and University of Adelaide.
Business SA Chief Executive Officer, Peter Vaughan, said the awards showcased the outstanding calibre of exporting in South Australia.
“These Business SA Export Awards continue to set the benchmark for exporting excellence in South Australia,” Mr Vaughan said.
“The standard of this year’s entrants have again been of the highest quality and their wonderful stories have unveiled a dynamic approach to doing business.
“We are being faced with a tough business environment and exporters have also been hit with a strong Australian dollar and a volatile global economy.
“Our local exporters have overcome many challenges to perform strongly over the past 12 months and the awards provide a valuable insight into some of the inspiring local companies that do business in the international market.
“These awards confirm that our State not only has a wonderful export community, but our quality also remains impressive by national standards.
“Business SA is delighted to provide a platform for South Australia’s premier exporters to be acknowledged and to showcase their great stories.
“We congratulate this year’s winners and wish them well in the Australian Export Awards.”
