Business SA offers a variety of events and programs for possible strategic partnering opportunities. Events can also be tailored to the specific needs of individual organisations and are considered on their merit and perceived value to our members.
Networking Series
This popular, member-only forum enables member to member contact to build business relationships and foster business growth. Venues for these events are selected from a variety of highly sought after business organisations and often include exclusive tours and special guests. A considerable amount of new business is instigated at these gatherings.
- Eight events have been planned for the 2012 year, January through to December. Sponsors for the 2012 series will be confirmed from July 2011.
Regional Information Sessions
Both members and non-members are invited to these events in the regional areas.
The purpose of these sessions is to familliarise regional businesses with the events and changes, applicable to them ,in the running of their businesses. These topics may come from a variety of areas such as Work Health Safety (WHS), Human Resource Management (HRM), Policy, Workplace Relations (WR), Training and Education, Traineeships and Apprenticeships and the various issues in which Business SA takes an advocacy role on behalf of business in this state.
- There are seven events in the series and the primary regional areas are visited
- Sponsors have a visible presence and are given opportunities to address the guests
- Sponsorship of the series is offered on a twelve monthly basis from July to June each year.
Survey of Business Expectations
This is an opinion based survey and samples South Australian business owners on a number of issues that are imperative to running a business. The purpose of the survey is to forecast the business landscape for the next quarter and act as a lead indicator. The results are read by many of Australia’s leading business and political figures.
- It is held quarterly and gains high media interest
- The annual sponsorship runs from January to December.
South Australian Young Entrepreneur Scheme (SAYES)
This program provides young people from the age of 18 to 35, with assistance to start their own businesses. Entry is competitive with 30 participants selected once a year. It is supported by industry and high level business people. Volunteer Mentors give valuable input and involvement. Network, show off your business and assist young South Australians in the process.
- Full twelve month sponsorship opportunities are available including providing scholarship places for individuals.
Business SA Women of the World
This program is provided for women in business to network together and build stronger business relationships whilst being provided with interesting, informative and entertaining speakers. It is targeted at both member and non-member business organisations. These are held quarterly at various venues, as breakfasts, lunches, workshops and cocktail events.
- The major and supporting sponsorship runs from January to December
- Sponsorship is also available for individual events.
Changes and Challenges Business Conference
Held annually, this highly regarded conference provides a forum for the latest information including legislative advice on running a business in South Australia today and in the future. The 2012 conference will also incorporate more information and education on the day-to-day running of a business highlighting the areas of compliance and development including Work Health Safety (WHS), Human Resource Management (HRM), Policy, Workplace Relations (WR), Training and Education, Traineeships and Apprenticeships, Environment and Sustainability and Marketing.
Speakers, who are experts in their field, provide exposure to critical information for the stakeholders in a selection of breakout sessions. A number of booths, to promote products and services, are also available in the expo area of the main hall.

Export Awards
Held annually in October, these awards recognise the leading South Australian businesses involved in exporting. The awards are open to members and non-members and there are various categories available for all businesses, large or small, metropolitan or regional. The winners of the various categories represent South Australia at the National Awards. Great recognition is gained from both entering and winning. The various categories attract individual sponsorship and naming rights and multiple categories are available to individual sponsors.
- A major sponsorship is available for the overarching ‘Award of Excellence’ which is presented to the overall winner on the day
- Sponsorship is currently being offered for the this year's awards.
Education Program
Business SA delivers the most sought after nationally recognised and accredited programs, designed to meet the growing need for specialist skills and knowledge. Business SA has a sound understanding of training requirements throughout the business community, enabling our highly skilled team of specialist trainers to deliver the best practice training for business. The education program is accessible on the website and is available to all members and non-members and is updated regularly.

- Sponsorship of various courses is available on a single or half yearly basis.
Mock Trials
These are held at various times through the year and present a factual scenario from a real life prosecution. They provide an insight into the realities of a prosecution following an incident.
These can include personal consequences for officers and directors as well as the financial penalties for the business. They highlight common failures and oversights that contribute to a situation and ultimately may lead to a prosecution. They can either be WHS or Workplace Relations based.
They include; Cross examination of the witness, Defence arguments and Sentencing by a current Industrial Court Magistrate.

New programs under consideration
Leadership Lunches
These lunches will be held quarterly and will appeal to the senior executive staff of an organisation. Guest speakers will share topical and challenging information, relevant to the complexities and influences of conducting business both at a State and National level.
- Sponsorship will cover the series and commensurate exposure and involvement will be provided to the sponsor.
HR Business Seminars
Aimed at the HR Practitioners in an organisation, or those who support this role, these sessions will be held to facilitate an industry specific forum where attendees can be exposed to current and emerging trends and legislative changes. Question and answer time will also provide the opportunity to raise situations presenting challenges or provide clarification on specific issues. A time for networking with like-minded people will be incorporated into each session. It is envisaged that these sessions will be held quarterly.
