The Guidelines are a resource for workplace rehabilitation consultants to assist them to promote best practice return to work outcomes. The Guidelines for retraining set out the:

-       principles that underpin retraining for workers
-       training course and worker eligibility criteria
-       approval and payment processes.

WorkCover is reviewing the current Guidelines as they were last reviewed in September 2007 prior to the 2008 legislative amendments.

In addition, since 2007 South Australia has adopted the Nationally Consistent Approval Framework for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers (the national framework) and in July 2010 theWorkplace rehabilitation provider fee schedule and guidelines were introduced in South Australia.

The Guidelines therefore need to be aligned to these documents.
