Increase to Minimum Wage for Public Sector Employees
The Industrial Relations Commission of South Australia has decided to instate the full minimum wage increase recommended by Fair Work Australia (FWA). The increase applies to all public sector employees still covered by State Awards.
Earlier this month FWA handed down a 2.9 per cent increase to the minimum wage for full-time adults in the private sector.
The increase takes the State Minimum Award Wage and the Minimum Standard Remuneration to $617.40 a week, up from $600.
The increase to public sector employees also takes effect from 1 July 2012.
South Australian employees in the private sector were entitled to the original FWA increase.
