National Paid Parental Leave
The Paid Parental Leave Scheme, which took effect from 1 January 2011, provides an eligible working parent with 18 weeks’ pay at the national minimum wage.
The Scheme is wholly funded by the Federal Government, but there may be indirect costs associated with administration and reporting for employers.
From the first pay period on or after 1 July 2012, the amount offered under the Paid Parental Leave Scheme will increase from $589.30 to $606.40 per week.
