New Citrus Industry Committee Calling for Members

The newly-created citrus body, the South Australian Regional Advisory Committee (SARAC), is calling for members in the citrus industry to take part in the new Committee.

The SARAC will have up to seven members, who will have a term of three years. At least four of those members must be citrus growers.

The current Citrus Industry Development Board (CIDB) will be abolished and replaced with the South Australian Regional Advisory Committee (SARAC).

SARAC will be funded by the Citrus Growers Fund and a drop in voluntary contributions is being proposed.

The contribution rate for growers is currently planned to be $1 per tonne of citrus produced.

The new body was created as a result of a report into the industry, as well a working group which was set up last year to put forward recommendations for the industry.
