$45m to sell South Australia to the world

The South Australian Business Chamber Chief Executive Martin Haese is pleased that the Malinauskas Government investing in a $45m digital tourism campaign to be awarded to a South Australian marketing agency.

We have an excellent product to market domestically and internationally, and who knows it better than a South Australian agency.

This campaign will be a massive bonus for the tourism industry hit so hard by COVID-19 with state and international border lockdowns.

The South Australian Business Chamber is particularly pleased that this campaign seeks to attract working holidaymakers. These working holidaymakers can take up jobs across South Australia where there are not the skills locally.

This is a welcome addition to the recent program announced by the Malinauskas Government to attract British working holidaymakers to South Australia.

We need to put in place a skills-matching program so that South Australian employers can get workers who have the skills they are missing.

The skills mismatch has been the top concern for South Australian businesses for some time now. The South Australian Business Chamber has been calling for this to be a priority at both the state and national levels.

South Australia needs skilled labour in many areas, including building and construction, vineyards and cellar doors, teachers, and specific skills like Arborists.”
