A paw-fect opportunity to raise some funds for Guide Dogs during PAWGUST

Want to raise funds and win prizes doing what you do best with your pampered pooch?

The South Australian Business Chamber is supporting PAWGUST by partnering with corporate member Guide Dogs SA/NT and encouraging South Australian businesses to round up their staff, get out of the office and pound the pavement with their four-legged friends to fetch some fundraising dollars.

The more you and your colleagues walk, the more prizes you’ll be eligible for – and the more your dog will appreciate it. Pick a punny name and take up the challenge.

In a recent survey of 1000 Australian dog owners, one third of dogs were walked less than twice a week and one in ten did not walk their dog at all. While Australia claims to be a nation of dog lovers, we are not looking out for our four-legged friends as much as we should be.

That is why the South Australian Business Chamber is partnering with Guide Dogs SA/NT – as we want to get you moving too.

We don’t like being stuck in an office longer than we need to, and the same goes for your pets at home.

Guide Dogs SA/NT CEO Aaron Chia is encouraging businesses to get involved, set some team or individual goals and get some fresh air with their pets and raise money to support PAWGUST.

We are trying to raise valuable dollars for people with vision impairment, children with autism, and their families. And we want to support the health and wellbeing of all South Australian workers.

Everyone can easily join in as one organisation or by department. With a simple registration process, PAWGUST provides the perfect opportunity to start a fun and engaging workplace challenge.”

The South Australian Business Chamber Chief Executive and pug owner Andrew Kay supported PAWGUST as a fantastic initiative to unleash the power of community spirit in South Australia.

We can all whippet ourselves into better shape during these winter months by getting out to walk our dogs. I cannot imagine not taking my pugs for their daily walk. I think my furniture would not survive otherwise.

Teams can commit to a 30, 45 or 60-minute daily walk and actively encourage each other, maybe get a little friendly competition within the workplace as teams chase the prize.”

Throughout August, Guide Dogs SA/NT has several fun activities planned and prizes to be won for:

  • signing up to PAWGUST before the launch on the 1 August
  • best team name
  • walking the furthest
  • raising the most money

All funds raised within South Australia will help Guide Dogs SA/NT continue to provide life-changing services to their clients and families. Register your team at pawgust.com.au/bsa
