The South Australian Business Chamber, South Australia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry has partnered with the AFL to present the official business lunch of the inaugural AFL Gather Round being held in April.

The first-of-its-kind event for The Chamber will be held at Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 14 April from 12.30pm with more than 600 people expected to attend. Guests will hear from keynote speakers and a conversation panel discussing the big business behind footy.

The full line-up of speakers and entertainment is yet to be announced, but the South Australian Business Chamber can confirm Premier Peter Malinauskas will be presenting along with key executives from the AFL in attendance.

The South Australian Business Chamber notes the close ties between sport and business, and how many AFL players start their own business either during or post careers.

Chief Executive Andrew Kay says We are honoured to be partnering with the AFL for the Gather Round luncheon. It’s a first for us and the chance for business to play a role in what is a massive weekend for South Australia.

We see this as an opportunity to showcase our state as a great place to do business, linking the local community with the many interstate businesses who are expected to travel to over to support their teams.

The economic impact of every AFL team playing in South Australia in one week will be enormous. We expect to see huge spikes in accommodation occupancy, retail, and hospitality trade all around the state as a result of this initiative”.

Premier Peter Malinauskas added,Already, tens of thousands of interstate travellers have bought their tickets to flock to SA.

There’s a reason we fought so hard to win Gather Round, and that’s because of the massive boost the major event will deliver our economy.

This luncheon is the perfect opportunity for those in the business community to forge new ties across state lines, build relationships and make decisions to invest in our great state.”

AFL EGM Customer and Commercial Kylie Rogers said the AFL was looking forward to bringing the competition to the great state of South Australia in April.

The excitement for Gather Round continues to build momentum, and recently reaching 120,000 in ticket sales is a testament to the fans’ appetite for the concept.

With all clubs being in the state at the same time, it unlocks an unbelievable opportunity to bring together the business world from across South Australia and share in a special afternoon,” Ms Rogers said.
