It is music to our entrepreneurial ears

Bringing the community together with her live music acts is something that Amber Kalleske was born to do. She loves performing live acoustic music as a solo artist, creating an enjoyable and vibrant atmosphere at various types of venues, events, and functions. Her music covers genres including indie folk, soul and pop. Amber wanted to increase her confidence in running her music business, so she enrolled in the South Australian Business Chamber South Australian Young Entrepreneur Scheme (SAYES).

The South Australian Business Chamber Executive Director, Employer Solutions and Programs Jenny Briggs reminds us that SAYES’ is all about saying yes.

We want South Australia’s young entrepreneurs to give their business ideas a real go, especially those in the regions. This is the third year that we’re able to offer the SAYES program to regional participants. There are so many amazing regional ideas and business owners who really benefit from a dedicated regional program. We are calling for our next round of participants for the 2022 SAYES regional program starting at the end of March. Are you keen to join the likes of Amber in realising your dreams?”

In starting her entrepreneurial journey, Amber wanted guidance from those with business experience. She wanted to understand how to run her business and generate new business.

I really looked forward to the SAYES program because of the regular mentoring. My mentor pushed me to my full potential and beyond to set and achieve new and existing goals. This helped me make the most of my business and encouraged me to accomplish more.

Since graduating, I have a better understanding and outlook regarding the running of a business, which I never really had before. I now understand and know the why’ of my business, which has helped me define the intentions of what I do allowing me to be a confident business owner. Without understanding this, my business will not succeed.

SAYES has motivated me to make new changes to my social media platforms, and I’m now exploring new ways to promote my business. I have been more proactive to ensure a continual flow of gigs in gaining more exposure for my business. I have also got plans of launching a website to further promote my services.

I am really taking charge, with looking to make connections across the music industry, particularly around artist development, writing music, recording and producing. These connections will help me develop my business and eventually for the future to have my music available on music platforms so more people can listen to what I’ve created.”

The South Australian Business Chamber SAYES regional program commences 28 March 2022 and will include 11 workshops in Adelaide over seven months. Successful applicants will have their travel expenses and accommodation requirements covered as part of the generous support from the Department for Innovation and Skills and the South Australian Business Chamber.
