Whyalla businesses have been eager to take advantage of a unique suite of services, specifically tailored to help them grow and thrive.
The services are being offered as part of a partnership formed by the South Australian Business Chamber, Whyalla City Council and Whyalla Business and Tourism to assist local businesses to succeed in 2021 and beyond.
It did not take long for local beauty shop owner Nicole Jaritz to set her diffuser on high and take advantage of her access to the South Australian Business Chamber services.
“Starting a small business like Soul Beauty comes with a lot of extra pressure that you don’t expect. But business owners take the risk because we have a passion. A passion for what we love to do.”
“I have grown up watching my dad run a successful business, so then going into the beauty industry myself and opening my own salon, I have now realised the full extent of what running a business really means.
“It does come with many stressors and risks. However, I love what I do because it is my dream.
“The South Australian Business Chamber has helped me immensely. I have struck up friendships and support networks that I didn’t know existed, and I feel like I have a security net.
“I have had many legal questions that the South Australian Business Chamber helped me with and many resources available when I’ve needed them. They also run events, networking, and priceless business training.
“I am grateful to be a part of a program that has my back. I would also like to acknowledge the immense support my husband Ben has provided during my business journey.“
Smokey Uppercuts Whyalla owner Dylan Laherstorfer shares a similar view, with his food truck business finally securing a permanent home at the end of the new-look foreshore café.
“The support and advice the South Australian Business Chamber has provided have been invaluable, particularly regarding our staffing requirements.
“We are also looking forward to engaging in the other services available as part of this initiative as our business grows in 2022.”
Whyalla Business and Tourism Chair Malcolm McLeod says that the Whyalla business growth program is well and truly off and running.

“Listening to some of the stories from our locals, the South Australian Business Chamber has been providing advice on various business issues from marketing to employee contracts. The partnership is invaluable for Whyalla businesses.
