The National Cabinet has agreed to extend Pandemic Leave Disaster Payments indefinitely.
Previously prolonged in July, these were due to expire on 30 September. However, after meeting with state and territory leaders on 14 September, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that payments will continue as long as mandatory isolation periods remain in place.
Following the recent decision to shorten the isolation period from seven days to five, eligible recipients will qualify for $540. Workers in high-risks settings, who must isolate for seven days, will continue receiving $750. Except in extraordinary circumstances, claims will be capped to three in a six-month period.
