81% of South Australian businesses have seen their electricity bills increase by up to 29% in the last 12 months, according to the December quarter 2022 The South Australian Business Chamber Survey of Business Expectations, powered by William Buck.

The South Australian Business Chamber was pleased the Federal Government announce energy relief measures in this week’s budget, which will benefit 95,000 businesses in South Australia.

South Australian Power Networks (SAPN), our state’s sole electricity distributor, classifies its customers based on the amount of energy they consume, not their turnover or number of FTE.

If your annual consumption is less than 160 MWh, you are a SAPN small business’ customer and you qualify for the $650 rebate.

The good news is you don’t need to do anything to receive the rebate.

All qualifying small businesses will automatically receive this rebate from 1 July 2023. The $650 rebate will be applied throughout the year based on billing cycles. For example, if you receive your bill quarterly, you will see a deduction of $162.50 per quarter.

If, for some reason, you don’t see this rebate reflected in your bills and believe you are entitled to it, please contact the South Australian Business Chamber’s Policy and Advocacy team on 08 8300 0000 or via policy@business-sa.com.
