White Ribbon Australia

Tuesday, October 25th 2022

Businesses are encouraged to show support in the fight to stop violence against women by hosting an event on White Ribbon Day on 18 November 2022. White Ribbon Australia urges Australians to start a conversation about practical solutions to end men’s violence against women and children in our communities.

Let’s be the change and do what we can to contribute to a nation free of all forms of gendered violence, harassment, abuse and disrespect,” White Ribbon Australia National Director Allan Ball said.

With your help, we are one step closer to achieving this mission.

Ending men’s violence against women can sometimes feel like an impossible goal, but we can do it together, community by community, workplace by workplace.”

How can you get involved? Business operators can begin by wearing a ribbon, seeking out conversations about this, or hosting an event to raise money.

Your fundraising efforts help create the change that is needed. This support helps drive prevention work to end violence before it begins through education, workplace accreditation, advocacy, partnerships and community-led action plans.

Adelaide White Ribbon Breakfast – Wednesday 23 November 2022

A small committee established the Adelaide White Ribbon Breakfast in 2008 to support the National White Ribbon Campaign within South Australia. The breakfast has grown from 280 guests to attracting nearly 1400 at the most recent in-person events.

Profits raised support White Ribbon Australia. The Small Grants Program supports SA community projects that reflect the ideals of the White Ribbon campaign in the primary prevention of men’s violence against women.

The focus this year is on the challenges faced by increased domestic and family violence due to the added stress, restrictions and isolation posed through the impact of COVID-19.

The South Australian Business Chamber members have come together to support this event, including MyMediation and SA Power Networks.
