Business SA mourns loss of President
The State’s leading business organisation, Business SA, expressed great sadness last month following the death of its President, Robert Atkins.
Mr Atkins passed away on the 14th of January after a battle with illness.
Business SA Chief Executive Officer, Peter Vaughan, paid tribute to Mr Atkins and said that it was a sad day for Business SA and the South Australian business community.
“I am deeply saddened at the passing of Robert,” Mr Vaughan said.
“Robert joined the Board of Business SA in 2003, was President since November 2007 and late last year was re-elected for a further two years.
“He provided strong, clear and vibrant leadership as the senior voice of Business SA and strengthened our reputation as the State’s leading business organisation.
“Robert was an integral part of our organisation and made an outstanding contribution to business in South Australia, particularly through his influential role in the State’s retail sector.
“Robert was a highly respected figure throughout the business community and his superior skills, knowledge and dedication strengthened the foundation of the local retail industry.
“I am sure the business community will join me in extending our deepest sympathy to Robert’s family at this difficult time.”
