Business receives accreditation
This month recognises the achievements of API Insurance Services which, with help from Tony Innes (Sustainable Directions), has recently been awarded bronze level accreditation:
Andrew Cook, Insurance Manager of API Insurance Services, provides an insight into why his organisation chose to obtain bronze level accreditation:
“The business owners and staff of API Insurance Services each share a common belief that as part of our community, we have a responsibility to act in a sustainable and equitable manner.
"In response to this shared belief, we developed our Environmental Management Plan to formalise our efforts to minimise our impact upon the environment. This process was made much easier with help from Tony Innes of Sustainable Directions.
"We chose the Business SA accreditation scheme for its recognition and for credibility (given its alignment to international standard ISO14001:2004). The accreditation process was professionally managed and provided us with a valuable external opinion of our Plan.
"Our Environmental Management Plan will assist us in a number of keys areas. We are already experiencing an increased level of engagement from our staff and we believe this will help reduce electricity and paper costs in particular.
Evidence suggests that more and more business and individuals will choose to deal with organisations that are consciously acting in a sustainable manner like ourselves.”
