This month recognises the achievements of Prince Alfred College which has recently been awarded bronze level accreditation.
Chris Jordison, Manager, Environment & Sustainability, at Prince Alfred College (pictured right with Business SA’s Brett Miller), provides an insight into why the college chose to obtain bronze level accreditation:
“The school has developed a strategic plan of which sustainability is a key indicator of success, not only in the classroom but also as part of the business strategy.
“The key issue to the school was how do we link what we do in the classroom with the business component of the school?
“The second was to have a strategy which gave us a framework which could link to a standard which has credibility. Our brand is important and we need to ensure that in an emerging area such as environment, we could be confident that our EMP was of an international standard.
“Obtaining the accreditation will ensure that what we teach our students in the classroom is what we do as part of our business. To be leaders, we need to practice what we preach. It will ensure that when we are looking at initiatives we look at the triple bottom line, not just finance.”
