Rates decision will maintain heat on local economy
Business SA responded to last week’s decision by the Reserve Bank Board to maintain official interest rates at 4.25 per cent.
Business SA Chief Executive Officer, Peter Vaughan, said that the two rate reductions before Christmas were not enough.
“Keeping interest rates on hold will maintain the pressure on many industries throughout the local economy,” Mr Vaughan said.
“Further action on interest rates is required by the Reserve Bank and we believe there is a strong case to cut rates immediately.
“The two interest rate cuts before Christmas provided some relief, however it has been evident that many industry sectors remain under strain.”

Coopers joins forces with V8 Supercars
Coopers Brewery and V8 Supercars are joining forces, with the iconic South Australian brewer becoming a premium partner of the sport. Coopers, now the largest Australian-owned brewer, and V8 Supercars have signed an agreement that will give Coopers pourage rights to all Australian V8 Supercar events and the title of Official Beer Partner of the sport. The announcement coincides with the 150th year celebration for Coopers which just last year was named as the world’s top family business ahead of giant global brands such as Lego and Estee Lauder.
A Taste of Harmony
With one in four Australian workers born overseas, the need to acknowledge and support our rich cultural diversity has never been more important.
For one week in March, A Taste of Harmony encourages South Australian companies to host a multicultural lunch at work to promote open conversation about the diverse cultures that sustain Australia’s workforce. Employees are invited to share their culture and food by bringing a dish representing that culture for others to experience. What better way to explore diversity than with food?
It’s very simple to get involved. All you need to do is register online and the organisers of A Taste of Harmony will send you a FREE package featuring branded napkins, table toppers, balloons and a poster to make your celebration official.
The campaign takes place from 19 – 25 March, coinciding with National Harmony Day on 21 March.
If you’d like more information on this event, visit the website at www.tasteofharmony.org.au or please call the office on 08 8271 4377.
