Employee entitlements over Christmas and New Year

With 2022 coming to a close, we understand many businesses need to consider employee entitlements over the Christmas and New Year period. 

Our Workplace Advisers on the Business Advice Hotline can answer your questions about employee entitlements when working through the holiday period, and what it means for businesses shutting down between Christmas and New Year. 

We can assist you with:

• directing employees to take leave 

• public holidays over Christmas and New Year

• public holidays during annual leave

• paying employees who don’t work on a public holiday

• public holidays during annual leave

• working extra hours and working on public holidays

• changes to Industrial relations legislation including flexible work arrangements, enterprise agreements, fixed-term contracts and pay secrecy.
