Results released this week in Business Now’, the South Australian Business Chamber and William Buck’s Survey of Business Expectations for the December quarter, highlighted 31% of businesses have never attempted to improve energy efficiencies in their business.

Many South Australian businesses are taking advantage of grants provided by Green Industries SA to subsidise the costs of implementing economically and environmentally sustainable practices in their organisations.

Up to $15,000 is available as part of the Assess-Implement-Monitor (AIM) grants from Green Industries SA.

The South Australian Business Chamber Member Studio S2 Architects released some ideas earlier this month that can assist businesses in finding and implementing opportunities including:

  • Investigate ways to shade buildings from the summer sun, reduce cooling requirements, and naturally cool or ventilate spaces and access more natural light internally
  • Find ways to reduce waste, and better manage disposal processes. Go paperless, recycle water, separate your organic waste… It does less damage to our environment and reduces your costs.
  • Get an energy audit.
  • Improve your building and grounds’ energy or water efficiency.

Businesses, not-for-profits, and Australian companies that have been operating for a minimum of two years in South Australia and are using commercial waste collection services are able to apply for funding.
