Investing in the West. City of Charles Sturt backs budding businesses

Business is booming in Adelaide’s western suburbs, and the City of Charles Sturt is playing a pivotal role in fostering this economic growth. 

With over 12,000 businesses operating in the region, employing more than 47,000 people, and contributing to a substantial $6.5 billion gross regional product, the area is making significant strides in its economic development.

The City of Charles Sturt’s 2022 – 2026 economic strategy underscores their commitment to supporting promising businesses. This proactive approach involves offering a range of support initiatives and services to business owners within the council area. 

From support programs and grants to entrepreneur scholarships, the council is dedicated to investing in the future success of the local business community.

Kym Wundersitz, Senior Economic Development Advisor for the City of Charles Sturt, emphasises the importance of this commitment, stating, Entrepreneurs are an important part of our local business community and ecosystem. 

Council are pleased to support our local residents with scholarships to grow their entrepreneurial skills and participate in the South Australian Business Chamber SAYES and Encore programs,” he said.

In alignment with this strategy, several businesses in the western suburbs have flourished with the support of the City of Charles Sturt, participating in programs such as the South Australian Business Chamber’s entrepreneur initiatives. Here are some examples:

SAYES participant 2023 – South Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year

HMO Unity operates as a dynamic Property Management Agency, specializing in transforming properties into Houses in Multiple Occupations’ (HMOs). They alleviate the burdens associated with tenant management, providing landlords with stable, extended rental income.
